Re: It will take away your sanity.
"No, I don't," he said with a sigh. "It would only waste our water." They still had a bit of a walk to the town, and even besides that, Ludwig was completely unwilling to recklessly use the only slightly-dirty water he was carrying with him. It was hard to find water that was mostly pure, and even harder to find water that didn't carry radiation.
It was... odd, walking like this, not uncomfortable but just not what he was used to. He had gone without much physical contact for years. Sometimes, he thought he preferred it that way, but he couldn't bear to shake him off now, after finding him again. The staring he paid less notice to.
"What is it, Feliciano? Are you talking about the pasta again?"

"hmm.. ve, no... something else." He said abrubtly and stopped the older man as he plopped his backpack on the ground. He began to dig through it as fast as he can before anything else might come out. After a few moments of determination he pulled out a small box, and began to open it, revealing a few small papers and a ribbon inside. He carefully took off what was on top to show a old worn out iron cross.

Ludwig stopped, and watched with a slightly furrowed brow as Feliciano dug in the bag. About the last thing he had expected to see was a keepsake box - and even then, he was expecting the Italian to only pull out some random thing that had struck his fancy, perhaps a wildflower or a shiny bit of metal.
Seeing that it was an iron cross shocked him so much he thought his heart had stopped.
"Feliciano... you kept it?" It had been so long since Ludwig had given it to him, nearly three centuries now, that he couldn't believe that his friend still had it with him. But he could tell that it was the real thing just by looking at it, though it was as tarnished as his own cross was now.
Taking a ragged breath, Ludwig pulled off one of his gloves, hastily wiping away the moisture that was suddenly in his eyes.

Feliciano had a soft smile and he looked up from the cross to the other man, noticing something unusual from his normal demeanour. "si si, I.. Was wearing it when the bombs fell. But then the chain got rusted and fell off so I kept it I'm my box!" he exlaimed shoing him again before closing the lid at another unknown sound, and stuffing it into his bag.
"ve... Uhmmm"

It was still amazing to him that Feliciano had held onto it, especially when he was so scatterbrained and irresponsible and just... too kind for words. It was hard for him to recover from a surprise like that, and that's why Ludwig's response was seconds slower than usual; he tugged his glove back on, and grabbed his rifle.
"We need to keep going," he said as he looked around with narrowed eyes, scanning the brush and overgrown patches of grass. "We'll get to the town, and... we can talk more there." His voice wasn't entirely steady anymore, but Ludwig didn't even realize it.

"ve, is something wrong?" he asked tilting his head and surveying the german. "ok ok! Talk and have showers!" he exlaimed nodding, thinking a semi clean showing to consensus the body was a good idea, at least for a little bit.
Feliciano took the Germans arm and tugged, pointing in he direction of the town. "this way ludwig this way!". His feet quickly worked and pulled him off to the small town before them.

"No... nothing's wrong." In reality, everything was wrong, but Feliciano being here again made things a little less wrong then they had been before.
Ludwig let himself be pulled towards the town. At one point, it used to be a tiny, quaint farming village... but now, with the buildings mostly destroyed, it had turned into a shanty town instead. Nothing grew well here anymore, so instead it had become a stop-over for anyone passing through the area, or just a place for those too weary to keep traveling.
"I'll need to sell what I picked up first, and then we may be able to afford some water for washing up."

Re: It will take away your sanity.
"ooooo water! okay~" he smiled pulling him by the arm. If Ludwig wasnt embarrassed, nobody was. Feliciano kept talking and talking, about all the things that had happened over the many years gone by. It was like he hadn't taken any sort of breath in between sentences, and he would randomly switch to Italian to try and get his point across... which didnt work because Ludwig didnt exactly know Italian.
